SSI or Supplemental Security Income?

Social Security Benefits FAQ Video Transcription

If you haven’t paid enough social security taxes to qualify for social security disability, there is another program called SSI, or Supplemental Security Income, and you may qualify for this, even if you don’t have the quarters paid in. You still must be disabled and the rules on disability are the same, but for SSI you don’t have to have the quarters. This program is for people who don’t have any assets or income. You cannot have more that $2,000 worth of assets or income to qualify for SSI.
